UK Marriage, Spouse, Fiancée & Partner Visas
If you are in a relationship with a British citizen or a person who is settled here, you can apply to enter or remain in the UK as their partner. If successful, you will be granted permission to stay for a probationary period of 33 months – or two and a half years if you are already in the UK. This visa provides a secure and stable status, allowing you to plan your future in the UK. You will then be able to extend this for a further two and a half years – at which time you will be eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain, also known as permanent residency.
The financial requirements for the UK spouse or partner visa, introduced in 2012, are a crucial aspect of the application process and can significantly impact the outcome. In many cases, the UK sponsor must demonstrate a gross income of £29,000, which can be from various sources such as employment, rental income, and self-employment. Cash savings can also be shown, but they must adhere to the rules and regulations the home office sets under the financial requirements.
Another aspect to consider is that income sources can be combined to compensate for shortfalls. This flexibility in the financial requirements allows you to explore various options to meet the criteria. For example, if a sponsor’s annual salary is less than £29,000, they can make up the shortfall by showing cash savings. Still, the home office uses a complicated calculation to assess the actual amount of the shortfall.
Our role in the UK spouse or partner visa application process is to provide comprehensive support. We can either prepare and manage the entire application for you or offer advice on any legal issues that may arise, ensuring a smooth and successful application process.
If your application for a UK spouse or partner visa is successful, you can work or study in the UK as soon as your visa has been granted.
